Today on Power Women of Queens Luchia meets Katha Cato, the Executive Director of The Queens World Film Festival. Katha was immersed in the performing arts from a very early age. From being a member of such improvisational troupes as ForPlay Improvised Theater and Chicago City Limits Touring Company in the 1980s, to arts-in-education and filmmaking including the subversive indie film "Be My Oswald'. Her involvement, dedication and contribution to the arts continue today with the Queens World Film Festival that she launched in 2011 with her husband Don Cato. Cato also facilitates a variety of programs including multiple Young Filmmaker Programs for school-aged children; Media arts programming for senior citizens and the popular Encore Screenings that bring festival films to alternative venues across the borough.
