Queens Conversations: How Do I Vote?

Clearly this is a critical moment in our history and it may never have been more important for our citizens to vote for the candidates of their choice. It is a sad fact, however, that too many votes are never cast or are never counted. Why? People can become confused about how to register, fail to locate their proper polling place, incorrectly read a ballot, or make crucial mistakes when mailing their early or absentee ballots. This episode of Queens Conversations will review all these important considerations and explain the correct steps you can take to ensure that YOUR VOTE COUNTS!

ABSENTEE BALLOT Deadlines
You must postmark, apply online, email or fax a completed application for the General Absentee Ballot by October 27, 2020. You may apply in-person by November 2, 2020. Ballots will be mailed beginning on/after September 18, 2020.

Voter Registration Deadlines
General Election Deadlines
November 3, 2020

MAIL REGISTRATION
Applications must be postmarked no later than October 9, 2020 and received by a Board of Elections no later than October 14, 2020 to be eligible to vote in the General Election.

IN PERSON REGISTRATION You may register at your local Board of Elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, on any business day throughout the year, but your application must be received no later than October 9, 2020 
Discharged from the US Military or have become a naturalized US Citizen after October 9, 2020, you may register in person at the Board of Elections up until October 24, 2020 

Notices of change of address from registered voters must be received by October 14, 2020  by a County Board of Elections and must be processed and entered in the records in time for the General Election November 3rd.

Early Voting Deadlines
Early Voting Period is October 24,2020 - November 1, 2020 
Begins: 10 days before the election.
Ends: 2 days before the election.
