Ronald McDonald House of Long Island & the Walter Kaner Children’s Foundation
“Keeping Families Close- With a Heart”
Families with sick children go to Ronald McDonald House of Long Island in New Hyde Park. They allow families with sick children to stay together and close to the medical care and resources they need.
The house provides parents and siblings with a temporary haven in a secure and comfortable environment among other families sharing a similar burden. The house is located on the campus of the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York. Since opening in 1986, over 31,000 families from the United States and more than 80 countries around the world have been served.
The Walter Kaner Children's Foundation also known as “The Foundation with a Heart” was created over fifty years ago by Walter Kaner; a noted newspaper journalist and armed service veteran. The foundation’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for economically and physically challenged children throughout the New York Metropolitan area.
The Foundation with a Heart gave a $100,000 dollar gift for a playground to the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island that will be remembered and used for families with children who are receiving medical treatment at neighboring hospitals. Watch this program as QPTV highlights the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island and the Walter Kaner Foundation.
