Faces of Queens Karen Kettering Dimit - Sculptor

Faces of Queens

Karen Kettering Dimit’s sculptures suggest an aura of timelessness as they deal with universal dualities of humanity that are brought into high relief by current events.  Dualities such as male/female, creation and destruction, body and spirit, nature and nurture, are mirrored in the choices of material she uses and the way she uses them:  seductive colored stone and hard metals; crisp, reflective glass and warm, sensuous wood; polished forms and broken surfaces.  Ms. Dimit allows historic associations that come to mind as she is working a piece to infiltrate the work, creating poetic assemblages that resonate with the viewer on many levels.
