ANNOUNCEMENT
Al Harris Named Chairman of the QPCC Board of Directors
Queens Public Communications Corp. (QPCC), known as QPTV, announced on June 8 that Alfred (Al) Harris has been elected Chairman of the QPCC Board of Directors, succeeding John B. Haney, PhD. A retired public relations manager after 40 years with Con Edison — including 20 years representing the company in Queens — Harris also brings service as past chairman of the Flushing YMCA Board of Managers and past president of the Rotary Club of Flushing.
“Al has been an integral part of our team and in this time of transition we are pleased to elevate him to this most appropriate position of leadership, ensuring that the QPCC organization is left in good hands going forward” said John Haney, immediate past Chair. Al brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role of chairman, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in television and radio production and a Master of Science degree in media management, both from Brooklyn College, CUNY. He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from Liberty University, where he is currently a PhD student in Strategic Media. We extend our sincere thanks to John B. Haney for his integrity, dedication, and wisdom which have served our organization so well. We now look forward to the work of our new leadership as QPCC works to blaze new paths in community access media.
